Based upon the limited info that you're providing, my answer is 'No.' Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The new tax credit provisions use the settlement date to determine your eligibility. Since you settled on the home prior to President Obama signing the new bill, you don't qualify. You indicated that this was not your first home but you may still qualify as a first time homebuyer under the previous tax credit provisions if you hadn't owned a home in the three previous years, or if you did own a home, rented it out.

I finished the building of my home on June of 2009 this year. I would like to know if I qualify for the 6500. tax credit. This was not my first home.
